CONTINUED UN COMMITMENT: PH REELECTED TO WOMEN’S RIGHTS, SCIENCE-TECH COMMISSIONS

The Philippines has secured re-election to two key United Nations commissions, emphasizing its commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and scientific advancement.

Re-elected to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) for the term 2025-2029, and the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) for the same period, the Philippines pledges continued active engagement with these bodies.

Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo affirmed Manila’s dedication to contributing to the CSW’s work programs and initiatives, building on its recent successful chairmanship.

The elections, held during the 12th plenary meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), underscored the international community’s trust in the Philippines’ expertise and contributions to gender equality and scientific development.

The re-elections provide platforms for the Philippines to share experiences and best practices, advancing its priorities and advocacies globally.

Furthermore, the memberships align with the country’s development goals as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and Ambisyon Natin 2040.
