Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro announced that the province has secured P300 million from Malacañang under the Local Government Support Fund to boost its rice assistance program and priority infrastructure projects.
Half of the allocation, P150 million, will provide 10 kilograms of rice to about 30,000 families across 10 LGUs, while the remaining P150 million will fund road works and farm-to-market roads in Sogod, Tabuelan, and Tuburan.
Baricuatro, joined by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and other local officials, received the Special Allotment Release Order to immediately implement programs.
Assistant provincial administrator Aldwin Empaces highlighted that the LGSF empowers LGUs, especially smaller municipalities, to address local needs and fast-track development despite limited revenue.
Officials also expect additional funds for calamity response, health care facilities, and school infrastructure, strengthening Cebu’s efforts to improve livelihoods and public services.
