CEBU LAWMAKER SEEKS POLITICS-FREE PUSH FOR HEALTH CARE IMPROVEMENTS

Cebu 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco urged Gov. Pamela Baricuatro to set aside politics until 2028 and prioritize health care for Cebuanos, saying he is “not one to fight.”

Frasco is pushing House Bill 3313 to upgrade the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City into a Level 2 facility, to be renamed the North Cebu Medical Center.

The proposed upgrade would increase bed capacity, improve facilities, hire more medical personnel, and transfer jurisdiction to the Department of Health.

He said the initiative would boost health care access in northern Cebu and decongest the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

This is Frasco’s third attempt to pass the measure, after earlier efforts stalled without the provincial government’s endorsement.
