Project NOAH, the Philippines’ flagship disaster risk reduction program, will receive P1 billion in the 2026 budget, the bicameral conference committee approved.
The funding boost was part of amendments to the P18-billion budget for state universities and colleges.
Lawmakers emphasized that Project NOAH, under the UP Resilience Institute, will work with the DPWH to improve flood control project design and monitoring.
The program can simulate areas to determine optimal locations for flood control structures and produce real-time hazard maps for local governments.
Despite previous budget cuts, Project NOAH continues to support disaster management and resilience efforts amid increasing climate risks.
