Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez, was named Woman of the Year by Billboard Philippines, honoring her four-decade-long career in the music industry.
In her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to her late father, Gerry, calling him her mentor and sharing how her singing career allowed them to travel the world together.
Velasquez reflected on her journey, recalling that she decided to pursue music at age five after experiencing her first singing contest applause.
She also expressed gratitude to the Lord and the music industry for giving her the chance to meet her idols, including her husband and fellow singer Ogie Alcasid.
Velasquez encouraged young artists to dream big, work hard, and continue the legacy of OPM pioneers, inspiring the next generation of Filipino musicians.
