Award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose, known for her remarkable performances on both the big and small screens, has passed away at the age of 59.
The actress, who rose to international acclaim after winning the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for her role in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’Rosa,” reportedly died on March 3, with the cause of her death yet to be disclosed.
Jaclyn Jose’s talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc., confirmed her passing and requested prayers for her eternal repose, while also urging respect and privacy for her grieving family.
Born Mary Jane Guck on October 21, 1964, Jaclyn Jose’s career spanned decades, featuring notable roles in films by renowned directors like Lino Brocka and Chino Roño. She also graced Philippine television screens with her presence in popular dramas such as “Mula Sa Puso,” “Marimar,” and “Alyas Robinhood.”
Survived by her daughters, actress Andi Eigenmann and Gwen Ilagan Guck, Jaclyn Jose leaves behind a legacy of outstanding contributions to Philippine cinema and television.
