Authorities seized endangered lawaan and tanguile hardwood during a raid on an alleged illegal logging site in a protected area in Barangay Puting Bato, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. The operation was carried out by a joint task force of police, DENR-Caraga, residents, and barangay officials after receiving complaints. Suspicion arose that a DENR employee might be involved in the illegal logging activities. A truck carrying lumber was intercepted, with the driver unable to present valid documents, although the Tubay local government claimed ownership of the wood with DENR clearance. The DENR employee denied involvement, and investigations into the case are ongoing.
