An Australian man, 26-year-old Johnson Wen, was charged in Singapore for rushing singer and actress Ariana Grande during the Asia premiere of Wicked: For Good at Universal Studios.
Video footage shows Wen jumping a barricade, wrapping his arm around Grande, and waving to the crowd before being restrained by security, with co-star Cynthia Erivo coming to her defense.
Wen pleaded guilty to “being a public nuisance” and will return to court on Monday, facing up to three months in jail, a $1,500 fine, or both.
The incident occurred as Grande and her castmates attended the film’s opening night, which proceeded after the disruption.
Grande, 32, previously survived the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, which killed 22 and left her with PTSD.
