Globe Telecom anticipates fiercer competition in the Philippines’ connectivity market as data demand is projected to triple and the Konektadong Pinoy Act’s implementing rules take effect.
CEO Carl Cruz said the company is preparing for new data transmission industry participants while expanding its broadband and digital infrastructure to meet growing demand.
Rising use of digital services and AI platforms like ChatGPT underscores the need for more robust network capacity and investment in cloud solutions, including a multi-year deal with Amazon Web Services.
Globe is also strengthening its retail broadband offerings, with GFiber Prepaid now serving 700,000 subscribers, and maintaining leadership in the mobile segment with 63.1 million customers.
Despite the challenges, Cruz expressed confidence that Globe can remain a dominant player by covering both premium and affordable connectivity markets.
