Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. welcomed the Senate’s unanimous approval of the Philippine Geriatric Center Act, following the House’s passage of the measure last December.
The Senate approved Senate Bill No. 1509, which seeks to establish a specialty hospital providing comprehensive, age-appropriate care for senior citizens.
Abante emphasized that the House acted early due to the urgency of the issue and praised the Senate’s action as a shared commitment to seniors’ welfare.
The measure is among 12 priority bills under the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council, alongside initiatives supporting OFWs, crisis assistance, and elderly health care.
Abante, a longtime advocate for senior citizens, highlighted that the hospital aims to treat elders with dignity, respect, and compassion, fulfilling a long-overdue promise.
