The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a strong warning against any attempts to sabotage or manipulate the Philippines’ electoral process.
During the signing of the contract for the Full Automation System with Transparency Audit/Count (FASTrAC) project with South Korean firm Miru Systems Inc., Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia emphasized the severity of electoral sabotage, which is a non-bailable offense under Republic Act 9369.
Garcia cautioned Miru Systems Inc. and its Filipino partners against any involvement in rigging the polls, stressing the importance of a credible and transparent electoral system for the 2025 elections.
He urged Miru Systems Inc. to demonstrate its commitment to establishing a highly credible and transparent system.
Acknowledging the support of the South Korean government for the poll automation project, Garcia highlighted the significance of the partnership.
The Comelec expressed its determination to ensure a smooth and trustworthy electoral process and is coordinating with law enforcement authorities to prevent any irregularities.
