The Philippine men’s curling team will be welcomed back home on Saturday night after winning the country’s first-ever gold medal at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.
The team secured the victory by defeating the previously undefeated South Korea 5-3 in the gold medal match.
Despite a 6-1 loss to South Korea in the group stage, the Filipinos managed to recover and win the gold.
The team, based in Bern, Switzerland, will also compete in the Pan-Continental Curling Championships in November and several prequalifying tournaments for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The historic win highlights the growing success of Philippine sports, with the team now aiming for further achievements on the world stage.
