Vice President Sara Duterte joined her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, in Hong Kong to campaign for PDP-Laban senatorial candidates, amid speculation they were avoiding a rumored International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.
The event, organized by detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ, gathered overseas Filipino workers in Wan Chai.
Meanwhile, a heightened police presence at Davao International Airport fueled speculation about a possible warrant, but authorities claimed it was for simulation exercises.
Speaking at the event, Duterte acknowledged the rumored ICC warrant but dismissed it, reiterating that he only sought to bring peace to Filipinos.
He added that if arrested, he would accept his fate and jokingly asked supporters to fund a monument for him beside national hero Jose Rizal.
