Senator Mark Villar, his sister Sen. Camille Villar, and their mother, former senator Cynthia Villar, are under DOJ investigation for allegedly awarding P18.5 billion worth of government projects to a relative.
DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the probe focuses on a possible prohibited interest involving Villar’s cousin as a contractor in Las Piñas.
The investigation covers Villar’s time as DPWH secretary up to the present.
Remulla emphasized that media reports served only as leads and that official documents are being reviewed.
The DOJ is also investigating similar cases of prohibited interests involving lawmakers nationwide.
