The United States has allocated an additional P13.8 million to provide emergency shelter assistance and hygiene kits for typhoon and flood victims in Luzon, benefiting around 3,000 families in Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, and Pampanga.
This brings the total US humanitarian support for disaster response in the Philippines to P27.6 million ($500,000).
The funds will be used for shelter-grade tarpaulins, repair kits, and essential household supplies distributed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Each shelter repair kit includes basic construction tools to help families rebuild their homes, while hygiene kits will improve sanitation and living conditions in evacuation centers.
The US Embassy expressed gratitude to local and international partners, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the World Food Programme, for their joint efforts in delivering aid to affected communities.
