Hidilyn Diaz is set to attend the Paris Games weightlifting competition, where her presence is expected to inspire the Philippine athletes.
Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella and Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richard Bachmann both emphasized the motivational impact of Diaz’s participation, despite her not competing as an athlete.
Diaz, renowned for her historic gold medal in Tokyo 2021, is now a member of the International Weightlifting Federation Athletes Commission.
While she missed the chance to compete in her fifth Olympics, she will support Filipino lifters including John Febuar Ceniza, Elreen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno.
Diaz’s influential career, spanning four Olympics, continues to inspire and support the development of grassroots athletes.
