The US and French embassies in Manila have advised their nationals to avoid protest areas in Metro Manila on Sept. 21 due to potential violence.
The US Embassy warned that even peaceful demonstrations could turn violent and urged citizens to follow local authorities’ instructions.
The protests are in response to corruption allegations in flood control projects, with various groups expected to participate.
Major rallies are planned at Rizal Park in Manila and the People Power Monument in Quezon City.
The Philippine National Police will deploy nearly 2,400 officers in Manila and over 50,000 nationwide to maintain order.
