The University of the East (UE) secured a solo lead in the UAAP Season 87 boys’ basketball tournament by defeating Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU) 82-74 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Gab Delos Reyes led the Junior Warriors with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks, supported by Enrico Bungar and Ethan Oraa, who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
UE maintained a strong lead of 67-49 by the end of the third quarter, but FEU made a late push, narrowing the score to 79-74 in the final minutes.
UE head coach Andrew Estrella emphasized the need for his team to remain composed despite their lead, urging players not to become complacent.
In another matchup, defending champions National University Nazareth School defeated the University of the Philippines Integrated School, 94-76, with Chester Talabut leading the Bullpups with 24 points.
