Damage from consecutive typhoons “Uwan” and “Tino” has reached over P2.8 billion, affecting agriculture, irrigation systems, roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure, the NDRRMC reported on Nov. 14.
Super Typhoon Uwan caused total losses of around P2.05 billion, while Typhoon Tino added roughly P810 million in damages, bringing the combined cost to P2.86 billion.
The storms claimed 259 lives, with 232 from Tino and 27 from Uwan, and caused widespread crop destruction that could disrupt planting schedules.
Relief efforts are underway, with the AFP and US military delivering food, supplies, and engineering support to affected communities in Catanduanes, Cebu, and other areas.
The Philippine Navy and other agencies are coordinating large-scale humanitarian operations, including transporting essential goods and equipment to assist recovery and rehabilitation.
