HERGIE BACYADAN EMBRACES DEFEAT IN OLYMPIC DEBUT WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK

Hergie Bacyadan’s Olympic debut was challenging as she lost to top-seeded Chinese fighter Li Qian in the round of 16 of the women’s 75kg class.

Despite her defeat, Bacyadan, who is four inches shorter than her opponent, remained positive, viewing the experience as a learning opportunity.

She acknowledged her lack of experience impacted her performance, though she fought bravely.

Li Qian, a seasoned athlete with a bronze medal from Rio and a near-gold finish in Tokyo, proved too formidable.

Meanwhile, Team PH’s Joanie Delgaco, also struggling, finished fifth in her rowing semifinal and hopes for a better result in her final race.
