House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III and Rep. Sandro Marcos have filed their version of the Anti-Political Dynasty Act as House Bill No. 6771.
The bill, read during the plenary session on December 10, was referred to the Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms for deliberation.
It seeks to prohibit spouses, siblings, and relatives within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity of incumbent officials from simultaneously holding elective positions at national, provincial, city, municipal, or barangay levels.
The measure aims to implement Article II, Section 26 of the 1987 Constitution, which mandates equal access to public service and the prohibition of political dynasties.
Candidates covered by the bill must submit a sworn statement to the Commission on Elections affirming they do not have disqualifying familial ties.
