SOLONS CONDEMN VP SARA’S ABSENCE AMID TYPHOON CARINA’S DEVASTATION

Two House lawmakers criticized Vice President Sara Duterte for her recent comments about the national government’s failure to fund Davao City’s flood control program.

Zambales Rep. Jefferson Khonghun and La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega pointed out Duterte’s trip to Germany during Typhoon Carina, questioning her responsibility as the second-highest official.

They highlighted that Duterte’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, had six years to address the issue, including substantial funds for Davao City’s infrastructure.

Ortega found it particularly perplexing that Duterte criticized the government while being abroad during the crisis.

Duterte had previously resigned from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s cabinet and missed his third State of the Nation address in July.
