The Senate and PNP are investigating inconsistencies in the supposed rescue of a Chinese teenager kidnapped on Feb. 20, which led to the relief of PNP-AKG chief Col. Elmer Ragay.
While officials initially credited AKG for the boy’s recovery, reports suggest he was brought home by a relative.
Law enforcement sources claim the “rescue” was staged, raising concerns over transparency in handling kidnapping cases.
Anti-crime groups warn that kidnappings for ransom remain a major issue, especially within the Chinese community.
The Senate inquiry, initially set for March 3, was postponed without explanation.
