The Senate Committee on Finance on Wednesday swiftly approved the proposed P10.15-billion budget of the Office of the President for 2027.
The panel also approved the Presidential Management Staff budget in less than 20 minutes, with both proposals deemed submitted for plenary consideration.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian cited inter-senator courtesy as Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, a former senator, presented the proposed budget.
Recto said the OP’s proposed spending plan is 64% lower than its 2026 budget and represents a small portion of the P7.2-trillion national budget.
He assured lawmakers that the budget was prepared according to Department of Budget and Management rules and without seeking special treatment.
