The Senate will discuss Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s continued absence from plenary sessions during an all-senators’ caucus on February 23.
Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said lawmakers may revisit Senate rules to address situations like Dela Rosa’s, noting there are rules for committee absences but none for plenary sessions.
Dela Rosa has not attended sessions since last year after the ICC issued an arrest warrant against him related to the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
Other senators, including Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, have also been implicated by the ICC in the same case.
Lacson emphasized the issue will be taken seriously, with discussions during the caucus aimed at reaching a consensus on possible actions.
