The Sharks Billiards Association (SBA) aims to become the “NBA of billiards” as it launches the Philippine Open, a major tournament set for April 21–27 at the Sharks Arena and Sports Bar in Quezon City.
Commissioner Hadley Mariano shared this vision during the event’s launch, which also marked a broadcast partnership with People’s Television Network (PTV).
The tournament will feature 128 players competing for a total prize pool of P1 million, with female participants playing race-to-7 matches in early rounds and race-to-13 in the final.
Games and Amusement Board chair Francisco Rivera praised SBA’s efforts, noting the sport’s growing momentum with 15 events already held in 2024.
The Philippine Open underscores SBA’s commitment to professionalizing and popularizing billiards in the country.
