Vice President Sara Duterte appeared before Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors on Friday to submit her response to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) complaint regarding threats made against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Duterte is facing charges of inciting sedition and grave threats after suggesting in a live-streamed press conference that she had hired someone to kill the Marcoses and Romualdez if she were killed.
Duterte’s spokesperson, Atty. Michael Poa confirmed that she filed a counter-affidavit but declined to reveal its contents, citing respect for the legal process.
Poa reiterated that the Vice President has always committed to facing the accusations in the proper venue.
The DOJ assured the public that the legal process would proceed fairly, ensuring accountability and the rule of law.
