Despite the recall of 75 members from her security detail, Vice President Sara Duterte retains 320 personnel, a larger contingent than President Ferdinand Marcos’, according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Remulla defended the recall, which aimed to address a shortage of police personnel in Metro Manila, and assured that the redeployment was properly coordinated.
Duterte criticized the move as “political harassment” and expressed concerns for her family’s safety, claiming police had investigated her residence.
Meanwhile, Duterte’s husband, Manases Carpio, condemned former Senator Antonio Trillanes’ drug smuggling and graft complaints as baseless, asserting that previous inquiries found no grounds for indictment.
Carpio and Davao City Rep. Paulo Duterte, who are also facing libel charges, maintain their innocence and urge reliance on legal processes rather than public accusations.
