House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos said the government is fulfilling its commitment to State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) by settling validated funding shortfalls for free higher education.
The commitment was highlighted during a symbolic turnover ceremony on Thursday covering SUCs across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The program covers P9.75 billion in validated funding deficiencies incurred by 104 SUCs from academic years 2022–2023 to 2024–2025, with P6.6 billion already processed and ready for release.
The settlement is expected to benefit 81 SUCs nationwide under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
Marcos also called for the fair distribution of government resources among large and small institutions, stressing that SUCs are partners in nation-building and that no Filipino student should be left behind.
