House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos has joined Lakas-CMD after leaving Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party led by his father, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Sources said the younger Marcos took his oath as a Lakas-CMD member on Monday in a ceremony attended by former House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Marcos has yet to issue a statement explaining his decision to switch parties.
His move further strengthens Lakas-CMD, which remains the largest party in the House of Representatives with around 70 members.
The latest party shift follows a series of changes in House political affiliations last May, when several Lakas-CMD members transferred to the National Unity Party and PFP.
