Majority Leader Sandro Marcos has urged Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co to return to the Philippines and face allegations against him.
Co, who previously chaired the Committee on Appropriations, is accused of involvement in controversial budget “insertions” in the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
Co is currently in the United States receiving treatment for a heart ailment, according to fellow lawmaker Alfredo Garbin Jr.
Marcos said it’s unclear if the House can compel Co to return, but emphasized the severity of the allegations and their negative impact on the House’s reputation.
He also mentioned that an ethics complaint could be filed if Co continues to avoid returning to address the issues.
