SAN JUAN MAYOR CLAMPS DOWN ON FESTIVAL MISCONDUCT

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, accompanied by a Lalamove rider, filed a complaint against a festival attendee who allegedly drenched the rider, his phone, and important documents during the Wattah Wattah Festival on June 24.

Eustaquio Rapal, the affected rider, described the incident that occurred while he was on duty. Zamora assured Rapal and others filing complaints of full support from the city government, stressing the need to uphold peace and respect at public gatherings.

Acknowledging the incident’s detrimental impact on the city’s image, Zamora took responsibility for addressing the matter promptly.

He also announced plans to create designated “Basaan Zones” for future festivals, ensuring residents can partake in the tradition in a controlled setting that respects cultural practices and prevents similar disruptions.
