House Speaker Martin Romualdez is reportedly on his way out as talk of a leadership shake-up intensifies at the House of Representatives, with Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino Dy III being eyed as his possible replacement.
Sources said President Marcos is aware of Romualdez’s looming exit, though no timetable has been confirmed, while House staff were seen packing items from the speaker’s office.
Majority Floor Leader Sandro Marcos was spotted accompanying Romualdez to Malacañang on Tuesday, fueling speculation that Dy may be installed as acting speaker by Sept. 17.
The rumors come as Romualdez and Ako Bicol Rep. Elizaldy Co face scrutiny over alleged involvement in anomalous flood control projects, which President Marcos vowed would be investigated without sparing allies or family.
Meanwhile, other lawmakers, including Cavite Rep. Francisco Barzaga, have expressed interest in the speakership as the House braces for a possible leadership change.
