A former security aide of Rep. Elizaldy Co testified before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that he helped deliver suitcases filled with cash worth an estimated P1.68 billion to Rep. Martin Romualdez.
Orly Guteza said the money, referred to as “basura” or trash by the staff, was transported in 46 suitcases, with 35 delivered to Romualdez’s Makati home.
Guteza claimed he personally made these deliveries at least three times, while group chats suggested they could happen up to three times a week.
He also linked one of Romualdez’s properties to Michael Yang, a figure connected to the Pharmally scandal.
Romualdez recently resigned as House speaker amid corruption rumors, and his ally Co has been ordered to return to face charges.
