The Quezon City government has reminded candidates to avoid using plastic posters and other election materials, citing their environmental impact.
Mayor Joy Belmonte emphasized that plastic posters, even when torn, contribute to clogged creeks and increased flooding risks.
The city passed an ordinance in 2013 banning plastic tarpaulins and posters to protect the environment.
As of yesterday, the government has collected 18,000 kilos of campaign materials posted in unauthorized areas.
The policy also extends to private organizations, and residents can report violations through the QC Helpline 122.
