Five deputies of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) have called for Chairman Franklin Quijano’s resignation over corruption allegations, including grave abuse of authority and gross misconduct.
Commissioners Rainier Cruz, Enriqueta Rodeles, Mary Jean Loreche, Edwin Espejo, and Reymar Mansilungan criticized Quijano’s leadership, citing poor governance and unused budget funds since 2022.
Established in 2019, the NCSC is responsible for the welfare of the elderly, and Quijano has been chairman since October 2020.
Loreche assured senior citizens of the remaining commissioners’ dedication, while Senior Citizens Party-list Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes supported the call for Quijano’s ouster and potential graft charges.
The allegations against Quijano were backed by findings from the House Joint Committees on Public Accounts and Senior Citizens.
