President Marcos, along with DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, personally oversaw the distribution of aid to families displaced by the ongoing unrest at Kanlaon Volcano.
The relief operation, held at the La Carlota City South Elementary School II Evacuation Center, provided financial assistance and essential supplies, with each family receiving P5,000 and family food packs.
Marcos assured the affected communities that the government would continue to provide support, emphasizing the importance of personally assessing the situation.
Currently, 323 families, or 1,111 individuals, are staying in four evacuation centers, with Kanlaon still under Alert Level 3.
The DSWD has prepositioned additional relief supplies in the region, including over 156,000 food packs, and continues to monitor the situation to provide necessary assistance.
