PRESIDENT MARCOS DEPARTS FOR UAE ON OFFICIAL VISIT

President Marcos is leaving for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today for his second visit as Chief Executive, where he will participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week from January 11 to 15.

He will be accompanied by First Lady Liza Marcos and key Cabinet members, including secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Trade, Migrant Workers, and the Presidential Communications Office.

The visit comes at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and will include discussions on energy, water, finance, food, and environmental issues.

Marcos is expected to witness the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)—the Philippines’ first with a Middle Eastern country—and a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.

The defense MOU aims to strengthen collaboration on developing the Philippines’ defense technologies, and the President is scheduled to return on Tuesday night.
