The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Manila Electric Corp. (Meralco) have forged an agreement to facilitate power distribution for the Metro Manila Subway Project.
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista expressed gratitude to Meralco, citing the agreement as a significant step forward in realizing the subway’s vision.
The agreement encompasses a 1,742-square-meter switching station area at the Valenzuela Depot, where Meralco will finance, install, and maintain necessary facilities.
The DOTr will allocate the area for the interconnection of the subway to Meralco’s distribution network.
The 33-kilometer subway project, initiated in January 2023, is slated to commence operations by 2029, stretching from Valenzuela City to Pasay City, with 17 stations along the route.
This collaboration marks a crucial milestone in advancing the infrastructure development crucial for Metro Manila’s transportation landscape.
