The Philippine National Police (PNP) is planning to procure more motorcycles to improve emergency response, particularly in areas where cars are difficult to use.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said motorcycles can help reduce response times in areas with heavy traffic, narrow roads and poor road conditions.
The move follows the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s turnover of 73 motorcycles to police units in Metro Manila.
The motorcycles will be distributed to the Manila and Quezon City police districts, as well as stations in Pasay, Pasig, and Taguig.
Nartatez said the PNP has allocated P2 billion under its Capability Enhancement Program for mobility assets and other operational needs, alongside motorcycle-riding training for personnel.
