PNP DEPLOYS 60,000 OFFICERS FOR HOLY WEEK SECURITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will intensify security measures nationwide in preparation for the expected surge of travelers during Holy Week and the summer season.

Around 60,000 personnel have been deployed under the Ligtas Sumvac 2026 program, covering tourist spots, transport hubs, and major roads.

According to PNP official Amie Centro-Tiu, over 3,200 tourist hotspots will be secured through increased patrols and assistance desks.

In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office will deploy more than 12,000 officers to key areas.

Authorities said the heightened presence aims to ensure public safety, especially amid concerns over incidents like reckless imprudence during holiday gatherings.
