PNP CONFIRMS HUMAN REMAINS IN TAAL LAKE LINKED TO SABUNGEROS CASE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that some of the bones recovered from Taal Lake are human, potentially linked to the missing sabungeros, as forensic analysis and DNA cross-matching efforts intensify.

A whistleblower named Julie Patidongan, alias “Totoy,” identified 12 police officers allegedly involved in the disappearances, including high-ranking officials, during an affidavit submitted to the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Authorities are also investigating links between the case and drug war-related killings, with Justice Secretary Remulla revealing an overlap in suspects tied to e-sabong and illegal drug activities.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are set to assist in the identification process, which could take weeks depending on sample conditions.

While families await closure, officials stress due process for the named officers as Napolcom prepares potential administrative charges.
