Senator Ronald de la Rosa urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to re-deploy Davao policemen to Vice President Sara Duterte’s security detail, expressing that she feels more comfortable with them.
De la Rosa noted that these officers were part of Duterte’s security when she was Davao mayor and were recently reassigned to PNP headquarters.
PNP chief Rommel Marbil countered that 31 of Duterte’s original police escorts remain with her, and she has a total of 358 security personnel, including those from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Marbil denied any political pressure or threats to Duterte’s safety, stating that the Presidential Security Command handles threat assessments.
De la Rosa, along with Senator Robinhood Padilla, raised the issue during a Senate probe into alleged excessive force by the PNP in a separate case involving Apollo Quiboloy.
