PINOY SWIMMER HEATHER WHITE STRIVES FOR OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION IN VANCOUVER EVENT

Filipino swimmer Heather White is set to compete at the Mel Zajac International in Vancouver, Canada, aiming to boost her FINA points in a bid to qualify for the Paris Olympics through the Universality Rule.

With her current 720 FINA points, White hopes to increase her chances, especially in the 50 freestyle event.

Meanwhile, Filipino Canadian Kayla Sanchez leads with around 830 points.

The Universality spot will be awarded to the highest-ranked athlete from each National Olympic Committee.

White, 17, also eyes the Olympic standard time of 24.7 seconds in the 50m freestyle for direct qualification.

Despite her young age, White remains focused on her Olympic aspirations, drawing inspiration from young Olympians like Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh, while also eyeing the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics for a potential prime opportunity.
