The Philippines and Lithuania signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on defense cooperation, focusing on cybersecurity, maritime security, munitions production, and countering hybrid threats.
The agreement was signed by Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and visiting Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovilė Šakalienė, who is on a historic four-day visit to the Philippines.
Šakalienė emphasized that the MOU is a substantial step toward deeper Indo-Pacific security cooperation, not just a symbolic gesture.
Lithuania expressed strong interest in collaborating with the Philippines on shared maritime challenges and protecting critical infrastructure.
Teodoro welcomed the partnership, highlighting Lithuania’s expertise in technology and resilience as valuable areas for long-term collaboration.
