The Philippines achieved a commanding 9-2 victory over Hong Kong to clinch the East Asia Baseball Cup, marking their fifth consecutive title in the tournament held at The Villages Sports Center in Clark, Pampanga.
Pitcher Romeo Jasmin was instrumental in the win, allowing just one run in the first six innings, while catcher Mark Manaig contributed with a three-run homer during a decisive five-run eighth inning.
Jasmin’s outstanding performance earned him the title of Most Valuable Player.
Philippines manager Vince Sagisi expressed relief at the victory, acknowledging the high expectations of playing in their home country.
With this triumph, the Philippines has also secured a spot in next year’s Asian Championships.
