Sofia Pagara and Khylem Progella’s impressive run in the Rebisco AVC Beach Tour Nuvali Open came to an end with a 14-21, 15-21 loss to China’s Yu Tong and Jiang Kaiyue.
The Philippine men’s teams also faced tough defeats on the second day of pool play, with Lerry John Francisco and Edwin Tolentino falling to Thailand’s Surin Jongklang and Kittituch Khomkham, 14-21, 12-21.
Meanwhile, Ronniel Rosales and Alex Iraya fought hard against Indonesia’s Yosi Firnanda and Danangsyah Pribadi but were edged out in two close sets, 16-21, 20-22.
Both Philippine men’s teams ended the day with 0-2 records in their respective pools.
The tournament, featuring 44 teams from 11 nations, continues in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
