The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) launched a nationwide CPR Caravan on July 17 at the University of the East in Manila, aiming to train one million Filipinos in basic life support skills.
The campaign, running until October 16, features simultaneous CPR demonstrations across 102 PRC chapters and promotes building a culture of preparedness under the theme “Shaping Culture: Towards a CPR-Ready Philippines.”
Over 2,000 students and personnel participated in the opening event’s hands-on CPR training, highlighting the importance of CPR knowledge for saving lives.
PRC Chairman Richard Gordon emphasized that CPR is a crucial skill everyone should learn to empower ordinary citizens to act in emergencies.
The PRC offers free CPR training sessions nationwide, encouraging creative, low-cost training methods to reach communities and fulfill the government mandate to include basic life support education in schools.
