The Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD) celebrated the success of the Philippine Open, which drew over 400 players nationwide, culminating in Jewel Angelo Albo and Mika De Guzman clinching the men’s and women’s singles titles.
PBAD Secretary General Carla Lizardo-Sulit expressed delight at the event’s turnout, emphasizing the importance of expanding their nationwide reach to foster badminton’s popularity.
Jude Turcuato, representing PBAD and PLDT, praised the tournament’s organization and highlighted the emergence of talents like Clarence Villaflor, underscoring the event’s role in discovering new stars.
Looking ahead, PBAD aims to enhance international exposure for its players to bolster their rankings and qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, USA.
