The Philippines showcased its potential as a key supplier of critical minerals at its first-ever country space during the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention 2026 in Toronto.
Ambassador Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga highlighted the country’s substantial reserves of copper, nickel, cobalt, and other minerals essential for clean energy, electric vehicles, and semiconductors.
The Philippine delegation, led by Chan-Gonzaga and joined by government and industry officials, engaged with international investors to explore opportunities in sustainable mining, investment, and innovation.
He emphasized that this participation strengthens economic and bilateral ties with Canada, especially as negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement continue.
The PDAC showcase underscores the Philippines’ readiness to expand partnerships under responsible resource development and sustainable growth.
